Japanese tourist dies after car accident in NW China

LANZHOU - A Japanese tourist died Friday after a bus and truck collided in Gansu province, local authorities said on Saturday.

The tourist coach and truck crashed head-on at about 9:50 am Friday in Jiuquan city. Three Japanese tourists onboard the coach and two drivers were badly injured, according to officials of the Work Safety Supervision Administration of Gansu.

One of the Japanese died at about 11:30 am in hospital after emergency treatment failed.

The Japanese were members of a tourist group organized by Jinhuyang Travel Services Co Ltd based in Inner Mongolia autonomous region in North China, a contractor of Xi'an International Travel Services Co Ltd in Shaanxi province in Northwest China.

They were on their way to Ejin prefecture of Inner Mongolia for sightseeing.

No more information was available.

Another traffic accident in Jiuquan on Friday evening left 29 passengers injured after their bus rolled.
