Gyeongju, South Korea - Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with his Japanese counterpart Katsuya Okada on Saturday, pledging further boost cooperation and exchanges between the two nations.
The top diplomats hailed the bilateral ties during the meeting, which took place ahead of a trilateral foreign ministers' meeting of China, Japan and South Korea.

He said China will make more efforts to further promote the bilateral relations.
Yang expressed appreciation for Japan's support on ongoing Shanghai Expo, and hoped that the two nations could grasp the opportunity to strengthen people-to-people exchanges and enhance the friendly feelings between the two peoples.
Echoing Yang's views, Okada said Japan is willing to make joint efforts with China to push the bilateral ties to a new height.
