The Ministry of Public Security said on its official website Wednesday that all the detention houses above level three around the country will be open to the public to visit from July 1 this year.

The ministry said those from government agencies, schools, judicial departments, journalists and relatives of detainees will have the right to make a request on visiting those detention houses.

Visitors will be allowed into the detention's reception rooms, libraries, lecture rooms, dining halls, and medical clinics. They can learn about living conditions and daily life of detainees such as what kind of food they eat.

Members of the public and social organizations wishing to visit must make a formal request and visit the detention houses in an organized way after getting approval from the management department.

Visitors are allowed to talk with detainees but they must be accompanied by a policeman.
