HK environment chief heads to Shanghai

HONG KONG - Hong Kong's Secretary for the Environment Edward Yau will attend an environmental protection seminar in Shanghai on Thursday to discuss the business opportunities in going green, according to local government on Wednesday.

Yau will give a keynote speech on the issue, while Hong Kong Environmental Industry Association President Daniel Cheng and Peter Sun from the Federation of Hong Kong Industries will speak on the research and application of green technologies.

Yau will call on the Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau Friday and exchange views with officials on issues relating to environmental protection.

The trip will also include a visit the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation to learn about developments in new energy vehicles in Shanghai and their use in the Expo Park.

Yau will return to Hong Kong on May 8.
