Volcanic ash flowing from Iceland is likely to reach the northeastern part of China about April 23, the Oriental Morning Post reported Tuesday, citing an estimate by the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) on Monday.
But the area's weather and flights won't be affected because by the time the ash reaches China, it won't be so thick after the long trip, the KMA said.
The KMA's earlier estimate showed the ash would reach the northeastern part of China about Tuesday, but it changed its original estimate Monday because the upper atmospheric pressure changed.
China's National Satellite Meteorological Center said Monday that experts were closely monitoring the spread of volcanic ash from Iceland but didn't say whether the ash would affect China, the Oriental Morning Post said.
