Several young women looked for only male strangers to hug, as part of a communications skills training program, on the streets of Haikou, capital city of South China's Hainan province, the Nanguo Metropolitan Daily reported.

The women said that they had to hug at least three male strangers, but they sometimes were rejected. "Our company wants to improve our overall capabilities," a woman explained.

Residents had different opinions about the program. A woman surnamed Wang said this was a good opportunity to develop communication skills with strangers, especially for salespeople.

But a man surnamed Wang questioned the real purpose of this program. "This is sensational, and what kind of capability do you expect to develop?"

People usually shake hands as a greeting method in China, and it's rare to hug, particularly for people who meet for the first time.
