The Qinghai-Tibet Railway was not affected by the 7.1-magnitude earthquake that hit Yushu County of Qinghai Province, said Wang Zhiguo, vice minister of railways, at a press conference in Beijing Saturday.

Wang said that the nearest section of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway was 360 kilometers away from the epicenter in Yushu.

According to the minister, there are two railways that could link to the quake-hit region regions, namely Lan-Qing Railway and Qinghai-Tibet Railway.

The relief materials are transported to quake-hit zone mainly through the Lan-Qing Railway.

By the 8 am of Saturday, 45 cargo trains had carried 26,000 tents to Yushu.
