GUANGZHOU - Vanuatu Prime Minister Edward Natapei wrapped up his six-day working visit to China Friday evening and left south China's Guangdong Province for home.
During Natapei's stay in China, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao held talks with him and China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin met with him.
While in Guangdong, Natapei met with Guangdong Provincial Governor Huang Huahua. The two sides expressed intentions for cooperation in the areas of agriculture, fishery and tourism, which were the mainstays of the island nation's economy.
During the meeting, Natapei said Vanuatu has been relatively weak in the infrastructure construction. He encouraged the Chinese investors to invest in the construction and management of airports and hotels in his country.
He also expressed condolences over the quake in northwest China's Qinghai Province on Wednesday, which has left 791 dead, 294 missing and 11,486 injured.
Invited by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, Natapei arrived in Beijing on Sunday to start his working visit to China. During his stay in China, he has visited four cities including Beijing, Changsha, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
