BEIJING - Senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Liu Yunshan, met here Tuesday with President of the Peruvian Nationalist Party, Ollanta Humala Tasso, on promoting inter-party ties.

Liu, a member of the Political Bureau and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, recalled the growth of China-Peru ties since the two countries forged diplomatic ties in 1971.

Liu highlighted frequent high-level visits, stronger political trust and steady economic cooperation, including the implementation of the China-Peru Free Trade Agreement signed last year.

Liu said the CPC would like to develop ties with the Peruvian Nationalist Party and other Peruvian parties in a bid to promote the overall China-Peru relationship and bring benefits for both peoples.

Humala, who was leading his party delegation for a three-day visit to Beijing, said China's reform and opening up had made tremendous achievements and drawn worldwide attention.

Stressing the party's great attention to ties with China, Tasso said the Peruvian Nationalist Party would like to step up exchanges with the CPC and learn from China's experience of state governance.

Humala urged the two countries to work more closely in cultural and economic areas.
