More government officials at the province and city level will be invited to visit Taiwan this year, a move believed to be the friendly return to lower tariffs for Taiwan goods promised by Premier Wen Jiabao later in February.

According to the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Shanghai Municipal Party Secretary Han Zheng and Hubei province Party Secretary Luo Qingquan are scheduled to visit Taiwan in April.

The Shanghai Party Secretary will promote the upcoming Shanghai World Expo in May, while Luo will discuss cooperation on trade, culture and technology.

More visits are being planned for officials from Sichuan, Fujian, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Shaanxi and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, among others.

Until now, Jiangsu province has earned the mainland's largest procurement value from Taiwan. A visit led by the province's Party Secretary produced a contract of $3 trillion.
