Official vows to deepen int'l co-op on gender equality

BEIJING - Chairwoman of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) Chen Zhili said the federation will work to further China's cooperation with other countries in promoting gender equality and advancing women's rights.

Chen made the remarks while meeting here with several foreign female diplomats in Beijing on Tuesday.

The federation will continue to keep in contact with diplomatic missions and international organizations in China, Chen said, according to a press release issued after the meeting.

Chen, also vice chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, expressed her appreciation to the women diplomats for their contribution to building friendship between Chinese people and peoples throughout the world.

Fourteen female ambassadors and representatives from international organizations attended the meeting.
