A Shenzhen-based technology company found imitation products, or "Shanzhai" versions, that used the company's patents in the United States and is collecting related evidence to file a lawsuit before the shanzhai make their way into the Chinese market.

Jinghui Technology Co said a brand of electric bottle sold in the US with the "Made in China" label was an imitation copy of their products.

An official at Jinghui in charge of marketing said nearly 30% of the exported electric bottles from Guangdong, where Shenzhen is located, had infringed on Jinghui's patents.

The company urged Customs to record the matter so as to stop the imitation imported goods at the border.
