More police and security checking devices, including sniff dogs, have been stationed in Beijing subways out of security concerns as the fear from the Moscow subway suicide bomb attack earlier this week lingers.
Handheld security checking devices were first put into use in China's largest subway network on small and big bags and other belongings.
Big luggage owners were required to put their belongings through the security checks and some of them were even asked to show their ID cards and pass a check by sniff dogs before entering the ticket-barrier.
The municipality transportation administrator said each luggage, big or small, should pass the check on the subway and that the security measures would remain for a long time.
