Air China gained control of Shenzhen Airlines by increasing its stake in the latter to 51% earlier this month.

Air China and Shenzhen Airlines operate nine and six flights respectively each day on the Beijing-Shenzhen route, one of the busiest routes in China. Some of the flights have the same departure time, which means there is still competition between the two.

Guangzhou Daily said the current flights will be integrated to 15 flights and called "air express route". Many of the travelers on this route are businessmen.

There are 23 flights from Beijing to Shenzhen each day and the new "air express route" is expected to gain 70% of the market share.
