Man planned to kill 30 students

Nanping, Fujian - The man who stabbed 13 primary students within 55 seconds in Nanping City, Fujian province, on March 23, 2010, said he had planned to kill 30 students on that day, according to local police on March 25.

Nanping police have ruled out the possibility of Zheng Minsheng's mental insanity after he confessed his intention of killing 30 people that day.

Officials in Nanping municipal party committee and government expressed their willingness to execute a quick investigation and sentence for Zheng. A 260,000 yuan ($38,085) compensation fee for victims' families has been approved by Nanping municipal government

Days after the bloodshed, an air of uncertainty still hung over Nanping city, especially around the residential area where Zheng lived. It was reported that his family, including his mother and six brothers, had moved out of the area.
