Chinese artists raise 3.22m yuan auction for Haiti

More than 20 Chinese contemporary artists have raised 3.22 million yuan ($471,730) for the post-quake reconstruction in Haiti by putting 35 works under the hammer on Sunday in Beijing, the Xinhua reported.

The benefactors include Cai Guoqiang, known for using gunpowder in his drawings. Cai's masterpiece "You Shan" (Wander in Mountain) was the auction's top money-puller, fetching 900,000 yuan ($131,850).
