World’s shortest man dies

China’s He Pingping, the world’s shortest man, standing at just over 74 cm tall, has died at the age of 21 from apparent heart complications, a Guinness World Records spokesman announced on Monday.

He, who suff ered a form of primordial dwarfism and was recognized as a world-record holder in 2008, died on Saturday in Rome, where he was taking part in a TV show.

He was born in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region in 1988. According to the BBC, he was admitted to the hospital two weeks ago aft er complaining of chest pains. He was a chain smoker.
