Under the agreement, the two nations will have working-level talks annually aimed at improving air traffic control and opening new flight routes, as well as other measures in areas of mutual interest, the South Korean Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs said in a statement.

Also, South Korea and China will hold workshops every year to share information on safety-related issues while boosting interpersonal networks between the two countries, it added.

In addition, the ministry said the possibility of opening the air route between Beijing and South Korea's Gimpo airport has increased following the agreement, with further details to come in the upcoming bilateral meeting scheduled in April.
