Nepali PM meets Chinese official in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Nepali Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal met Vice Minister of the International Department of Communist Party of China Central Committee Liu Jieyi at the his official resident in Kathmandu Thursday.

In their talks, Liu Jieyi said that China appreciates Nepali government's consistent and firm support for the Chinese government's stance on Tibet-related issues.

He said Nepali Prime Minister's visit to China last December is very successful. China and Nepal, which established diplomatic ties in 1955, have lifted bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Partnership of Cooperation featuring ever-lasting friendship.

"China is willing to make joint efforts with Nepal to implement the important consensus by leaders of two countries earnestly and expand bilateral cooperations in various fields." Liu Jieyi said.

Liu Jieyi added that as a good neighbor, friend and partner of Nepal, China hopes that Nepal will successfully and smoothly complete the peace process and the drafting of Nepal's new constitution.

Nepal said that his country would adhere to the one China policy, adding that Nepal would never allow any force to use Nepal's territory to conduct anti-China activities.

At the invitation of the Secretariat of International Conference of Asian Political Parties, a delegation led by Liu Jieyi arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday to attend the 12th International Conference of Asian Political Parties.
