Defense Ministry spokesman Huang Xueping said Thursday that Tokyo's recent move to play up China military threat will stir up distrust between Sino-Japanese security cooperation and the feeling of the two peoples.
Some Japanese leaders said recently that Japan's alliance with the United States would become even more important with China's rise as a military power and are decided to hold discussion on the issue when emending its new defense guideline.
"As the Sino-Japanese defense ties has been developing positively," Huang said, such remarks would definitely have big impact on the bilateral defense mutual trust.
"I need to point out that Japan-US alliance is a bilateral arrangement against the specific historic background, which should be limited strictly to bilateral sphere and not target at the third party," Huang said.
He hoped the Japanese side would do more that conducive to the health development of the bilateral ties.
"Relevant defense measures should benefit the regional peace and stability," he added.
