The per capita GDP in South China's Pearl River Delta Region reached 67,321 yuan ($9,855.2) in 2009, according to a statement from the Statistics Bureau in Guangdong province, people.com.cn reported today.
Although the region witnessed a decrease of migrant workers, the latest data shows that per capita GDP has grown by 9 percent year on year, only 0.4 percent lower than the growth of GDP, the report said.
The region, which includes major cities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Dongguan in Guangdong province, is one of China's most important export bases.
