SHIJIAZHUANG: The death toll of an explosion at a starch factory in north China's Hebei province has risen to 13 while five others are still missing, the xinhuanet.com reported today.
50 people were injured after an explosion ripped through a workshop of the Qinhuangdao Lihua Starch Co Ltd in Funing county, in Qinhuangdao city, at about 4 pm yesterday, a city government spokesman said.
All of the injured are being treated at a local hospital and nine of them are in critical conditions, the report said.
Initial investigations indicated that the accident was caused by a dust explosion, the spokesman said.
