Web search request volume leaps in 2009

China's web search request volume totaled 203.38 billion times in 2009, a year-on-year increase of 35.7 percent, while Baidu.com and Google.com together make up 94.9 percent of the market, according to a report by a consultancy agency iResearch, cited by the Beijing Times.
The web search service reached more netizens in 2009 and became more personalized. Analyst Jin Naili of iResearch suggested the search engine operators should focus more on shopping, travel, video and social networking and tailor the service according to their user's needs.
