China's lotteries sold more than 75B yuan in tickets

An unprecedented total of 75.5 billion yuan ($11 billion) lottery tickets were sold in China last year, making 92 people rich with assets of more than 10 million yuan ($1.5 million), the Yangcheng Evening News reported today.

Guangdong became the first province to sell more than 8 billion yuan ($1.2 billion) in tickets last year, grossing 8.33 billion yuan, according to a nationwide lottery meeting in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province.

Last year, 22 people won at least 10 million yuan by lottery in Guangdong province, with the highest winning being 96 million yuan ($14 million), the report said.
