The youngest British ambassador to China, 47-year-old Sebastian Wood, declared yesterday his priority in China is to visit eight cities in 88 days, the Beijing News reported today.
"I just come to Beijing for one week, the thing I want to do most is traveling," said the ambassador.
The ambassador plans to go to Shanghai municipality, Chongqing municipality and Guangzhou, the capital city of Guangdong province and other major cities in China.
"China emerges as an important economic and cultural center of the world. I think it's lucky to work here as a diplomat," Mr. Wood said.
Wood used to study Chinese in Taiwan and work in Hong Kong. This is his first time working in Chinese mainland.
"The Sino-British relation has a good history and becomes closer. I will continue to promote the economic and technical cooperation and non-governmental exchanges between the two countries. We will face the challenges of nuclear proliferation and climate changes together," he said.
