BEIJING: An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale struck northern China's Shanxi province Sunday at 10:36 am Beijing time, according to China's national seismological network.

The epicenter, located at the border area between Hejin city and Wanrong county, was at 35.5 degrees north latitude and 110.7 degrees east longitude with a depth of 12 kilometers, the network said.
