The abuse of power by officials leads to high housing prices in the city, according to the party chief of Kunming, xinhuanet.com reported.

Qiu He, party chief of Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province said Kunming’s land price was lower than other surrounding cities but the housing price was higher.

It is claimed real estate developers are over-inflating housing prices by bribing local officials who shield them from blame.

"We have got some evidences on that record and will prosecute the officials suspicious of corruption," Jiu said.
