Beijing's skyline is set to change again with a new 400-meter high-rise to be built and two others planned, qianlong.com reported.
The skyscraper will be built in the central area of the Central Business District (CBD) of Chaoyang district and the other two to the east.
Deng Naiping, head of Tongzhou district of eastern Beijing, emphasized the new district planning, which expanded the core area from 16 sq km to 48 sq km and moved the high-rise buildings to Beiguan traffic island.
The schedule for building the high rises is tight with demolition set to be finished by March, and construction starting in June, said an insider from Tongzhou.
The Chaoyang district of eastern Beijing will also see the building of skyscrapers in its CBD core area. "We will use the last 15 percent high quality land to construct high buildings," said Cheng Lianyuan, head of Chaoyang district.
