Need to buy a kitchen knife? If it is during the World Expo in Shanghai, show your ID card first please.

The security working group of the Shanghai 2010 World Expo said on Monday that sale of controlled knives would be banned and other dangerous cutting tools restricted for security concerns.

"Other dangerous cutting tools" include kitchen knives, big fruit knives and artistic work knives.

The restricted knives would be sold in designated places authorized by local commercial departments. Buyers will need to show their ID cards and have their personal information registered before they can take the knives away.
