Zhang Yunjie, special assistant of director of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination and Alan Siu, Hong Kong's Deputy Secretary for Commerce and Development (Communications and Technology) signed a memorandum on the transfer.

During the ceremony, the guests put together a model of a smart card to mark the transfer.

Hong Kong will showcase its extensive and creative use of smart card technology with the theme "Smart Card, Smart City, Smart Life" at UBPA. Hong Kong's UBPA will feature simulation devices, multimedia technology, animation, videos and will be "innovative, highly interactive and forward-looking," said Siu.

Hong Kong side will start to prepare the exhibition as soon as possible and the preparation is expected to end in next March, Siu said. Trial exhibition is expected to start in next April.

The LCD on the outer walls of this UBPA pavilion will turn the number of visitors inside into pixels to stage ever-changing videos. Inside, the visitors will first enjoy a movie featuring Hong Kong on a 360-degree screen, Siu said.

Visitors also can experience the convenience of the Hong Kong smart card and wireless identification technology in the UBPA, Siu added.
