Beichuan kids learn to rebuild

During the May 12 earthquake last year, Beichuan Middle School was among the worst-hit schools, with more than 1,300 of the school's 2900 students and teachers killed or left missing.

Shortly after the disaster, surviving students found a new home located in the courtyard of Changhong training center in Sichuan's Mianyang City.

The institution increased the enrollment quota and the students from the area could also join the school.

The students were provided with textbooks and teaching materials by the Sichuan provincial government and Mianyang Education Bureau sent local teachers to strengthen the staff team supported by may teachers from overseas who also came to volunteer.

The reconstruction work will soon start on May 12, the first anniversary of the earthquake, the new school will be built in Beichuan's new county seat.

Many of the teens, most of who were only children, had to recover from the biggest trauma of their lives, they are receiving psychological counseling to help them to cope, since the quake, people from all over the world have been giving them a helping hand, as a consequence, the pressure to be good has become a huge burden on their little shoulders.

Yes, they have been through enough for their young age, at the end of the day, they are just like everyone else, need to learn right from wrong, need to fall to know how to stand strong, and to be successful without being afraid to fail.

The quake brought considerable misfortunes, and it brought experience and strength too, as long as we choose to confront adversity with courage, we will surely overcome any disaster.
