The bill for official government vehicles reached 80 billion yuan ($11.7 billion) last year, making up 14 percent of last year’s total government procurement, southcn.com reported today.

China's self-owned brands are required to make up no less than 50 percent for governmental-used cars since 2009, according to the 12th meeting of the 11th National People's Congress Standing Committee on Friday.

Gas emissions for normal official cars will be limited to 1.8L from 2.0L, with the price within the limit of 160,000 yuan ($23,400).
