73 detained in drug raid

Police in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning, arrested 73 people and discovered 1,200 grams of crystallized methamphetamines colloqually known as "ice", 7,000 pills containing methamphetamine known as "Magu", and 400,000 yuan ($58,579) in a raid on a local drug gang recently. Liaoning is in northeast China.
On Sunday, people.com.cn reported that police had begun an investigation into drug gangs that covered four provinces.
The investigation got its first break when police received a tip that a man surnamed Zhang, who lived in the Dadong district of Shenyang, was likely a drug dealer. As police investigated further, they found another three people who sold and bought illegal drugs. Eventually, they collected enough information to go after the whole gang.
Those four people were all detained in the raid in a hotel with drugs. Police are continuing to investigate.
