Doctors fired for fixing steel plate in wrong leg

Two doctors in Tongcheng county, Hubei province, have been fired after they "accidentally" fitted a steel plate in the left leg of an 84-year-old patient, who had a fracture in his right leg, last week.
The two physicians of the Tongcheng hospital of traditional Chinese medicine now face an investigation.
Zhao Rongbin's family filed a complaint with the county's health department after the patient continued to experience pain in his right leg following a two-hour surgery.
Li Changchun, president of the Tongcheng hospital of traditional Chinese medicine, admitted Zhao was a victim of faulty medical treatment. Zhao will go under the knife again soon to remove the steel plate from his left leg and fix it in the right one.
