A grand celebration was held to mark the 600th anniversary of Shenjiamen, a well-known fishing port on the Zhoushan Archipelago, in East China's Zhejiang province, November 18, 2009.

Numerous events take place during the festivities, including a parade of ancient-style ships and folk performances.

Shenjiamen has China's largest natural fishing harbor and an aquatic product distributing center. It is also one of the world's three biggest fishing ports, with the other two being Bergen of Norway and Callao of Peru.

The history of Shenjiamen Port can be traced back to 1409 during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) when the government built military fortress and stationed troops to fight against the Japanese pirates.
