Possessive man extorts neighbor for taking wife out

A man, too possessive of his beautiful wife, was arrested for extorting 100,000 yuan from a fellow villager who escorted the woman to visit the county seat in Nanning, capital of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, last Wednesday.

Huang Zhong, 35, a farmer in the city's Xiangshan village, never approved of his wife speaking to other men.

In May, Huang's wife ignored her husband's possessive nature and followed a neighbor to see the county seat for a few hours.

Suspecting the two were having an affair, Huang forced his neighbor to pay him 100,000 yuan in compensation, threatening to kill him otherwise.

Last week, the procuratorate approved Huang's arrest, saying the accused had committed a crime.
