The World Economic Forum and relevant Chinese authorities announced Monday that the Forum's fourth Annual Meeting of the New Champions, or Summer Davos, will take place from September 13-15, 2010 in Tianjin.

The Meeting is hosted in partnership with the Chinese Government represented by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), and will focus on "Sustainable Growth". The summit will be held next year in a new convention centre in Tianjin's downtown area, rather than at the Binhai New Area of the municipality.

Although the theme of next year's summit has not been decided yet, topics will focus on "Sustainability and Growth", which are in line with the fast development trends of Tianjin, said Ren Xuefeng, vice mayor of Tianjin.

"Tianjin has witnessed a lot of changes during the recent two years. It has been greener and gone through a great refreshment," Christophe Weber, director of the Beijing Office of the World Economic Forum, said.

"We are delighted to return to Tianjin for the fourth Summer Davos," said André Schneider, Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director, World Economic Forum. "Next year's Annual Meeting of the New Champions will focus on creating sustainable growth, taking into account the developing new world order and the profound economic challenges we still face."

"China's leading role remains vital to achieve a full recovery," Schneider added.

Tianjin Mayor Huang Xingguo said the Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2010 will be an important event, highlighting global efforts to recover from the worldwide financial crisis and the opening up of the city of Tianjin. "We will work with the Forum closely to make the next Summer Davos an exceptional meeting, which will create insights towards sustainable global development," Huang said.
