Two stand trial for sheltering prostitution

KUNMING: A man and a woman stood trial Tuesday in southwest China's Yunnan Province for allegedly providing shelter for prostitution.

Liu Shihua, 36, along with his cohabitant Zhang Anfen, 35, have forced his own daughter into flesh trade between September 2008 and March 2009 in Kunming, the provincial capital, the Wuhua District Court heard.

The suspects rented four houses as venues that permitted and introduced Liu's daughter and other girls surnamed Zhao, Xing, Li and Wang to prostitute themsleves, the court heard in the closed-door trial from 9 am to 9 pm.

The court did not hand down a verdict.
