Chia Tai launches R&D arm

SHANGHAI: Thai conglomerate Chia Tai Group on Thursday announced it will launch Zicure Technology, a high-tech company focusing on telecommunication and e-commerce, in China to further enhance its research and development R&D capacity.

With offices in Shanghai and Bangkok, the company will not only support Chia Tai Group's research and development, but work with others who have the potential to be successful in the high-tech sector, according to the company.

The company, to be formally launched in January next year, will act as the R&D arm of Chia Tai Group to obtain its own patents and sponsor future projects that have the potential of global competency.

"We will first consolidate the current technology sector within the Chia Tai Group, and will strive to expand into other areas such as telecom, interactive TV and retail-related sectors," said Parkpoom Srithimakul, CEO of Zicure Corporation.

One of the world's largest business conglomerates with over 80 years' history, Chia Tai Group has expanded itself to businesses such as agriculture, agro-industry, retail, real estate and financial investment, employing 250,000 people worldwide.
