Engineers measure in Xiamen Xiang'an Tunnel, the first undersea tunnel in Chinese mainland, in Xiamen, east China's Fujian Province, on Nov. 5, 2009. The 8695-meter-long Xiamen Xiang'an Tunnel was run-through on Thursday. Designed and built entirely by Chinese, the tunnel's deepest part is 70 meters below the sea level. It will have a life span of 100 years and cut driving time between Xiamen Island and the Xiang'an District from 1.5 hours to eight minutes. [Xinhua]
