Taiwan jolted by 5.9-magnitude earthquake

BEIJING: An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale struck Taiwan's Nantou County at 5:32 pm (Beijing time) Thursday, the China Earthquake Networks Center said.

No immediate reports of casualties or damage are available.

The epicenter was at 23.9 degrees north and 120.7 degrees east, with a depth of 7 km.

The tremor was also felt in Fuzhou, provincial capital of the Chinese mainland's Fujian Province, and Xiamen.
