Professor Wu Zhaosu, executive chairman of the CHL, said China should focus its control and prevention efforts at the community level, as has been proved to be the most effective way in previous studies, domestic and overseas.

"The League is fully committed to worldwide promotion of the concept of 'translational medicine', actively facilitating effective conversion of findings from hypertension research into clinical practices for community-based application. The ongoing session of the World Hypertension Congress is an important measure of, and a historical witness to our proactive efforts to boost such a process," said Professor Liu Lisheng, president of the WHL.
