China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin has urged to carry on the traditions of the system of multi-party cooperation and political consultation and called for innovation in theories and practices to further improve the system.

He made the call in an article to be published Sunday in the journal Qiushi (Seeking Truth), run by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said the system came amid the hard work of all members from the CPC and democratic parties and non-party friends "through all weathers" and was in accordance with the country's situation.

Jia, also member of the the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, stressed that the system was the country's inevitable choice during its historical development and has been having "irreplaceable" effects in promoting the country's reform and construction of a well-being society.
