Two get 1 year each for 'involuntary manslaughter'

A Beijing court sentenced two men in their early 20s to a year each behind bars for causing the death of an intoxicated friend on a very cold night in March.

The court also ordered the guilty to pay the deceased's family 390,000 yuan in compensation on Tuesday.

On March 12, the three friends were drinking at an eatery in Beijing till Song, the deceased, passed out.

The two dragged Song to an abandoned house nearby and left him there. Song was found frozen to death the next morning.

His friends were charged with "involuntary manslaughter".
