Housing prices see new gains in Beijing

The average price in the first nine months of this year for future delivery homes located within Beijing's Fourth Ring Road was 19,109 yuan ($2798.8) per sq m, 2,226 yuan higher than the average price in the first half of the year, xinhuanet.com reported, citing data jointly released on Wednesday by the National Bureau of Statistics and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics.

In the first three quarters of 2009,the average price for homes located between the Fourth Ring and Fifth Ring Roads was 17,205 yuan per sq m, 1,457 yuan higher than the average price in the first half of the year. Homes located between the Fifth and Sixth Ring Roads were 9,980 yuan per sq m on average in the first nine months, 684 yuan higher than the average price in the first half of 2009, while homes located beyond the Sixth Ring Road were 7,878 yuan per sq m on average in the first three quarters, 275 yuan higher than the average price in the first half of the year.

Home sales prices in September of 2009 were 0.3 percent higher than in August, the seventh gain this year. But areas of homes sold in September lowered to 1.19 million sq m, 29.6 percent less than August, and also the lowest as of March of this year.
