The city of Shanghai has worked out a plan to publish 166 kinds of Expo books for the forthcoming World Expo Shanghai 2010, according to a written source released by the Shanghai Press and Publication Bureau today.

The source said the books were chosen from 558 various types presented by 23 publishing houses. The books, focusing on the Expo theme “Better City, Better Life”, will introduce culture, tourism, service and exhibitions.

At the Frankfurt Book Fair which opened yesterday, the bureau donated 73 of its first published Expo books to the Frankfurt Library, allowing local people access to learn more about the Expo and Chinese culture.

“The donation is a stimulus to the cultural exchange between the two countries,” said Alfred Schmidt, chairman of the China Co-operation Center in Hessen, Germany.
