Chinese vice premier meets Mongolian FM

BEIJING: Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang met here Monday with Mongolian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Sukhbaataryn Batbold, saying the two neighboring countries should further cooperation in various fields.

China and Mongolia are friendly neighbors and important cooperative partners in East Asia. The two countries should promote mutually-beneficial cooperation under the circumstance of global economic downturn, said Li.

Li hoped the two countries could focus on cooperation in such areas as infrastructure, resources exploitation and projects concerning people's life.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of China-Mongolia diplomatic ties.

Batbold said Mongolia will make joint efforts with China to push forward bilateral ties in the new historical period.

Batbold is paying an official visit to China from Sunday to Tuesday at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi. Yang and Batbold also held talks on Monday.

Batbold will also attend the annual prime ministers' meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on behalf of Mongolian Prime Minister Sanjaa Bayar on Wednesday.
