BEIJING: China on Tuesday called for concerted international efforts to fight "East Turkistan" forces.

"The international community should make concerted efforts to crack down on 'East Turkistan' forces and terrorism in whatever form," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said at a regular briefing.

Jiang made the call when asked to comment on the fact that leading East Turkistan separatist Dolkun Isa was denied entry by the Republic of Korea(ROK) last week.

Isa was the secretary general of the Munich-based World Uygur Congress, an overseas "East Turkistan" organization, and ringleader of the terrorist East Turkistan Liberation Organization and World Uygur Youth Congress, Jiang said.

"Suspected of committing several criminal and terrorist acts, Isa was on the wanted list of China and the International Criminal Police Organization," Jiang said.  "China's position is clear. We've made our position known to the ROK."

Jiang stressed that a crackdown on "East Turkistan" forces is a crucial part of the international fight against terrorism.
