Top legislator leaves for Cuba, Bahamas, US visits Senior legislator deprived of CPC membership

BEIJING: Top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo left here Monday afternoon, kicking off his official good-will visits to Cuba, the Bahamas and the United States from August 31 to September 12.

Wu, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, is the guest of Ricardo Alarcon de Quesada, president of the National Assembly of People's Power in Cuba.

In the Bahamas, he will be hosted by Senate President Lynn Holowesko  and House Speaker Alvin Smith.

Wu's visit to the United States is invited by the US Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi.
