Man finally gets divorce from 'non-existent' wife

A farmer from Zhejiang province finally got a divorce from his wife who used a fake ID card to get married to him in 2005.

Xiao Chen, 31, a resident of Lishui, married Huang Hai, a woman from the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, just two weeks after meeting her.

Xiao paid 20,000 yuan ($2,928) to the person who introduced him to Huang as a token of thanks.

Just five days after their marriage, Huang disappeared. When Xiao tried looking for her, he realized both the name and the address on her ID card were fake.

Since the woman did not exist according to government records, the marriage registration office in the city did not approve the divorce.

Last Monday, a court ruled in favor of Xiao and granted him the divorce.
